Lance is a Venture Partner at Elizabeth Street Ventures and brings over 20 years of experience in leadership roles in the alternative investment management industry – investing across sectors and asset classes, both public and private.
Previously, Lance was a Managing Partner, Head of U.S. Equities and one of four senior partners on the Executive Committee at Perry Capital. In over a decade at Perry, he played an integral role in building the firm to over $15B in assets under management. He was a Portfolio Manager for the firm’s Consumer/Retail, Special Situations, and Industrials & Energy portfolios before taking responsibility for all of U.S. Equities.
Most recently, Lance was BlueMountain Capital Management’s Head of Equities and served on the firm’s Investment Committee. Prior to that, he was President and Chief Investment Officer at Kinrose Capital, a private family office. Lance started his career as an Assistant Vice President and the first Risk Analyst hired into Smith Barney’s newly formed Risk Management Group.
Lance is also currently a Venture Partner at Upper90, an alternative credit fund that provides non-dilutive growth capital to innovative businesses.
He graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University and received his M.A. and M.Phil in Political Science from Columbia University, where he was a President’s Fellow. He is a C.F.A. charter holder and served on the board of trustees of Success Academy Charter Schools.
